Hold the Ice

Will you get more liquor without ice?

Do you ever order your drink without the ice, hoping you'll get a bit more liquor in the process? People do it with all kinds of things; I know people who order lettuce-less tacos in hopes of getting more cheese! Will a bartender actually give you more liquor to make a stronger drink if you go ice free?

Ask Adam says no. Your bartender is much more likely to either give you a shorter pour or even just more mixer if you abstain from the ice, so if you like it cold you may want to just keep the ice in your drink--or flat out order a stronger one if that's what you really want!

What tricks do you use when ordering drinks at the bar? Share them in the chat!
